L-CYSTEINE-PRODUCING BACTERIUM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING L-CYSTEINE

To develop a novel technique for improving L-cysteine-producing ability of a bacterium, thereby providing an L-cysteine-producing bacterium and a method for producing a compound such as L-cysteine using the L-cysteine-producing bacterium. A bacterium belonging to the family Enterobacteriaceae, which has L-cysteine-producing ability and is modified so as to have increased L-aspartate-a-decarboxylase activity, is cultured in a culture medium, and then L-cysteine, a related substance thereof or a mixture of L-cysteine and the related substance is collected from the culture medium, thereby producing L-cysteine, the related substance or the mixture.
