Provided is a method for easily manufacturing heat-resistant inorganic fibers that are suitable for use in a filter material, sealing material, or the like and are highly bio-soluble, with the effects thereof on the human body and living environments minimized even with a mean fiber diameter of 1 µm or less. Said manufacturing method is characterized in that inorganic fibers containing, by mass, 35% to 88% Al2O3, 3% to 45% CaO, and 5% to 40% SiO2, with Al2O3, CaO, and SiO2 totaling at least 98% of the mass of said fibers, are manufactured as follows: an aqueous fiber-spinning feedstock solution is prepared by dissolving water-soluble basic aluminum carboxylate, a water-soluble calcium compound, and a water-soluble or water-dispersible silicon compound in an aqueous medium; said aqueous fiber-spinning feedstock solution is then spun into crude inorganic fibers; and said crude inorganic fibers are then fired. |
