PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for managing medical image data using normal coordinates are provided to effectively display slices between medical image data by matching created relative coordinates with medical image slices. CONSTITUTION: A medical image data management apparatus receives medical image data including a plurality of medical image slices(S710). The medical image data management apparatus corresponds to a normal coordinate system for a body which is set in the received medical image data beforehand. The medical image data management apparatus creates relative coordinates corresponding to normal coordinates for one or more parts of the medical image slices(S740).
