This electric tool is provided with a reduction mechanism comprising a switching member capable of sliding in the axial direction, and a gear member engageable with the switching member. A reduction-ratio-switching means has a shifting actuator for causing the switching member to slide, a drive state detector for detecting the drive state of a motor, a slide position detector for detecting the slide position of the switching member, and a controller for starting the shifting actuator and temporarily changing the rotation power of the motor. The controller changes the relative rotation speed of the switching member and the gear member at incomplete shifting, that is, when the switching member has not yet moved to the target position by sliding.
