<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that suppresses change in granularity with time, and maintains good image quality for a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a photoreceptor 1; an exposure device 7 that exposes the photoreceptor 1 and forms an electrostatic latent image; and a two-component developing unit 3 that develops the electrostatic latent image with color materials. The image forming apparatus varies an exposure spot area on the photoreceptor 1 by varying an exposure spot diameter to form a plurality of test patterns on a sheet (S009), reads the plurality of test patterns formed on the sheet (S011), detects granularity of the read plurality of test patterns (S012), determines an exposure spot area where granularity is relatively suitable (S013), and makes the exposure spot area as an exposure spot area for image formation, and thereby adjusts the height of toner on the photoreceptor during image formation (S014). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
