LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device achieving a wide viewing angle and a short half-tone response time by regulating a direction of liquid crystal orientation using pre-tilt angle providing technology using a polymer for sealing a liquid crystal layer containing polymerizable components between substrates and stabilizing the liquid crystal orientation by polymerizing the polymerizable components while applying voltage to the liquid crystal layer.

SOLUTION: A liquid crystal layer 24 containing a polymer for regulating a pre-tilt angle of liquid crystal molecules and a direction of a tilt at driving is sealed between two substrates 20, 30, which are oppositely arranged. A plurality of stripe type electrode patterns 8 formed to have wider pattern width than width of a space 10 is arranged so that the liquid crystal molecules are oriented in a pattern longitudinal direction when polymerizable components mixed in the liquid crystal layer 24 while applying voltage to the liquid crystal display layer 24 are solidified to form the polymer.
