An LCD (100) and a drive method thereof are provided. The LCD (100) includes a plurality of data lines (D1-Dm), a data driver (106), a plurality of pixel units (120) and a switch circuit (102) connected between the data driver (106) and the data lines (D1-Dm). The data driver (106) is used for writing gray scale voltage on the data lines (D1-Dm) in a dot invert drive way. The switch circuit (102) includes a plurality of first switches (T1), a plurality of second switches (T2) and a plurality of third switches (T3). By the switch circuit (102) controlling on/off of three groups of switches, before the data lines (D1-Dm) are written with the gray scale voltage, the voltage of the data lines (D1-Dm) is converted to the gray scale voltage to be written in advance. The LCD (100) consumes low power.
