<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fresh packaging for surgical sutures that do not tangle when the sutures are taken out. <P>SOLUTION: The surgical suture package for storing the surgical sutures 300 is provided. The package includes an outer jacket 100 having a plurality of panels foldably adapted on each other to form an inner pocket 102 and an inner retainer 200 for positioning within the pocket 102. The inner retainer 200 includes a main support panel for supporting the at least one suture 300, and a pair of side support panels foldably connected to the main support panel along respective opposed major sides of the main support panel. The side support panels are adapted to be folded onto the main support panel to at least partially enclose the at least one suture 300.
