Provided are: a chain guide having high strength and little sliding resistance in a surface thereof that comes in contact with a chain, is resistant to abrasion even if the chain traveling at high speed comes in contact therewith, and has low noise and little vibration; and a chain tensioner device using same. A roller (12) that comes in contact with the chain (1) is configured by: a support shaft (13) supported by opposing side plate members (9) disposed along the travel direction of the chain (1); a roller bearing having an outer ring (12a) disposed on the outer peripheral surface of the support shaft (13); and a metal outer ring (12d) that comes in contact with the chain (1) and is covered by the outer periphery of the outer ring (12a).
