<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DC motor ceiling fan which does not require positioning of a rotor at the time of start-up and surely rotates a motor in a desired direction so as to prevent reverse rotation from giving an uneasy feeling to a user. <P>SOLUTION: A DC motor ceiling fan comprises: position detection means 15 which detects a magnetic pole position of a rotor magnet (magnet 6) in a brushless DC motor in a sensorless manner; and stop position fixing means 17 which controls a blade stop position of the ceiling fan to be a constant position compared with a phase energized at the end by energizing a specific phase of the brushless DC motor for a fixed time or longer when stopping the ceiling fan.
