<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce costs drastically to fit a proper dimension of each vehicle type by slightly changing the dimension by a simple structure regarding a side airbag apparatus that can constrain a rear part of an occupant at a side collision. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle side airbag apparatus includes: an inflator 14 that can discharge gas at the side collision; a side airbag 16 that is formed by sewing at least an occupant-side base fabric 24 to a vehicle body-side base fabric 26, normally stored to be folded, and inflated when gas is supplied from the inflator 14 to be deployed into a space between the occupant 30 seated in a vehicular seat 12 and a vehicle body side 34; and a tether 18 that couples a middle region of the occupant-side base fabric 24 in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle with either a rear region of the occupant-side base fabric 24 or the vehicle body-side base fabric 26 in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, and partitions the side airbag 16 into a main chamber 28 which comes into contact with a side 30A of the occupant 30, and a rear chamber 32 which comes into contact with a rear part 30R of the occupant 30 during deployment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
