<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic coating apparatus that reduces electrostatic charge on paint particles when a spray gun and an object to be coated are separated from each other, and prevents the paint particles from adhering to a worker or the spray gun. <P>SOLUTION: The electrostatic coating apparatus 1 includes a spray gun 2, a cascade 3 provided in the spray gun to generate a DC high voltage, a control part 13 and a current detection circuit 14 for detecting an electric current flowing through the cascade 3. The control part 13 successively acquires the detected current value to calculate a rate of change in detected current value, and sets and stores a current reference value on the basis of the change pattern of the detected current value when the change pattern of the detected current value shows a reference pattern, and changes a continuous output mode of the cascade 3 to an intermittent output mode when the detected electric current decreases below a set electric current reference value, and changes the intermittent output mode to a continuous output mode when the detected electric current reaches a set electric current reference value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
