A method for manufacturing a preform into which a sheet-shaped structure produced from a reinforcement fiber base material is formed by a lower mold having a three-dimensional solid shape and a recessed section, and a plurality of upper molds each having a pressing mechanism, the method for manufacturing the preform being characterized in that the sheet-shaped structure is mounted on the lower mold, at least one area of the sheet-shaped structure is temporarily pressed by at least one upper mold, at least one area other than the temporarily pressed area of the sheet-shaped structure is pressed by another upper mold, thereafter the remaining area of the sheet-shaped structure is pressed by yet another upper mold, and the area temporarily pressed by the upper mold used for the temporary pressing is regularly pressed by predetermined pressing force. According to this manufacturing method, when a sheet-shaped structure produced from a reinforcement fiber base material is formed into a three-dimensional solid shape, the base material is prevented from becoming wrinkled, and a preform having a target shape can be formed efficiently with high productivity. |
