The device (1) has electric contacts (9,17,18) for charging battery of electric car with respect to alternating current or direct current. The electrical contacts (9) are moved between initial position and end position to electrically connect another electrical contact by actuator (3). The micro-switches (10,11) are provided to determine position of movable electric contacts (9). The shaft (6) is arranged adjacent to housing (20). An independent claim is included for method for charging electric car with charging device.
