A nonaqueous-electrolyte secondary battery containing a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte is provided in an embodiment. Said positive electrode contains: a positive-electrode collector having a first surface; and a first positive-electrode active-material layer provided on part of said first surface. The positive-electrode collector contains: a coated section on which the first positive-electrode active-material layer is provided; and a non-coated section, adjacent to the coated section in a direction parallel to the first surface, in which the positive-electrode active material layer is not present. Said non-coated section is adjacent to one or more of the edges of the positive-electrode collector and extends along said one or more edges. The distance(s) from the boundary between the coated section and the non-coated section and the aforementioned one or more edges of the positive-electrode collector is/are between 5 and 20 mm, inclusive. The density of the positive-electrode active-material layer is 3.1 to 3.4 g/cc. The ratio (W1/W2) of the mass per unit area (W1) of the coated section to the mass per unit area (W2) of the non-coated section is 0.997 to 1.
