<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of manufacturing a liquid crystal display with excellent alignment controllability of liquid crystal at low cost by preventing various problems resulting from a rubbing processing, a polyimide alignment film, and a magnetic field orientation method, and by effectively using an existing device. <P>SOLUTION: A manufacturing method for a liquid crystal display includes: a step for forming a polymer brush on two substrates at least one of which has relief structure; a step for producing a liquid crystal cell by injecting liquid crystal between the substrates where the polymer brush is formed; a step for holding the liquid crystal cell after heating it to a temperature which is higher than a Tg of a part where the polymer brush is compatibilized with the liquid crystal and which is lower than an NI point of the liquid crystal; and a step for cooling the liquid crystal cell to a temperature which is lower than the Tg of the part where the polymer brush is compatibilized with the liquid crystal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
