<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable electrolytic cleaning in a sheet width direction uniformly when the surface of a metal band is performed with the electrolytic cleaning. <P>SOLUTION: In the continuous electrolytic cleaning of a metal band 1 that performs electrolytic cleaning of the metal band 1 continuously transported, a first electrode 31 and a second electrode 33 are disposed at an transporting direction P of the metal band 1 in this order, facing a cleaning surface 1a of the metal band 1 to be subjected to the electrolytic cleaning. An electrolytic liquid as a layer shape lamina flow Wr having a width wider than a sheet width of the metal band 1 is injected from the first electrode 31 and the second electrode 33 to the cleaning surface 1a of the metal band 1. Either one of the first electrode 31 and the second electrode 33 is made a positive pole and the other is made a negative pole, and voltage is applied between them, and are energized through the electrolytic liquid Wr and the metal band 1.
