METHODS FOR PREPARING PAPER PULP AND FOR MANUFACTURING PAPER FROM SEAWEED POWDER

The invention relates to a method for preparing paper pulp from seaweed powder, said seaweed powder being prepared by drying seaweed and/or floating cellulose resulting from the treatment of seaweed at a temperature of less than 150ºC until the seaweed and/or the floating cellulose has a moisture content in the range of 1 to 20 wt %, and grinding the seaweed and/or floating cellulose so as to obtain a powder with a particle size in the range of 5 to 100 µm. The method for preparing the paper pulp includes mixing precooked seaweed powder with water and with cellulose fibres from wood and/or plants, the seaweed powder added to the mixture being at least 20% of the total weight of the seaweed powder and the cellulose fibres from wood and/or plants. Said paper pulp can be used to manufacture paper having high opacity and a uniform surface without inclusions.
