[Problem] To provide a process for efficiently producing carbonyl compounds, particularly, a process for efficiently producing N-substituted carbamic acid esters. [Solution] This process for producing carbonyl compounds includes a step (X) of reacting a specific compound having a urea bond with a carbonic acid derivative having a carbonyl (-C(=O)-) group while heating the system at a temperature not lower than the thermal dissociation temperature of the urea bond to form a carbonyl compound.
