<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of periodically exchanging sufficient information between an air conditioner body and a remote controller by bidirectional communication, and reducing power consumption due to a reception waiting state of the remote controller. <P>SOLUTION: In transmitting a request signal for requesting operating information by every prescribed time from the remote controller 1 to an air conditioner indoor unit 2 through an RF module 11, the reception waiting state is kept for a specific time by a power-saving waiting section 14a, the operating information of the air conditioner indoor unit 2 is transmitted to the remote controller 1 from the RF module 21 of the air conditioner indoor unit 2 when the transmitted operating information request signal is received by the RF module 21 of the air conditioner indoor unit 2, and the operating information is received by the RF module 11 at a remote controller 1 side.
