<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virtual image display device capable of obtaining a high quality virtual image by suppressing color irregularity or the like due to an optical system such as a lens. <P>SOLUTION: In a virtual image display device 100, since a depolarizing element 50 is disposed between a light emission side position of an image display device 11 and a light emission side position of a light emitting section B3 of a light guiding device 20, or more specifically between a projection optical system 12 and a light guiding member 21, and eliminates a unique polarization tendency caused by effects of birefringence in the virtual image display device 100, an image suppressing color irregularity due to a polarization tendency can be displayed with respect to eyes EY of an observer.
