<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a herbicidal composition containing sulphonanilides showing excellent effect as a herbicide. <P>SOLUTION: The herbicidal composition contains sulphonanilides represented by formula (I) [in the formula, R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, C<SB POS="POST">1-4</SB>alkyl or the like, R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>represents hydrogen, fluorine or chlorine, R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>represents hydrogen or fluorine, R<SP POS="POST">4</SP>represents hydrogen, C<SB POS="POST">1-4</SB>alkyl or the like, R<SP POS="POST">5</SP>represents hydrogen, R<SP POS="POST">6</SP>represents hydroxy, and X represents CH].
