<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved means for displaying more than one graphic on a single display area. <P>SOLUTION: A first substrate 50 includes, on its rear surface 56, an etched region 58 corresponding to a first graphic 60. A second substrate 70 includes, on its front surface 74, an etched region 76 corresponding to a negative of the first graphic. The first substrate 50 acts as a light pipe conveying light to the etched region. A second light source 84 is positioned behind the second substrate 70. A mask layer 80 is provided between the second light source and the rear surface of the first substrate, and comprises an opaque region 82' defining a light transmissive region 83 corresponding to a second graphic 82. When only a first light source is illuminated, the first graphic is displayed; and when only the second light source is illuminated, the opaque region blocks the light conveyance and the second graphic is displayed.
