The present invention relates to a gravure press and a method for producing fire-retardant banded cigarette paper wherein the fire-retardant bands are printed onto the cigarette paper by means of a fire-retardant printing device, said gravure press comprising a drying device and a press device, said drying device comprising mutually parallel linked drying cylinders, said cigarette paper being tightly held by the drying cylinder a printing machine roller and a laminated rubber roller; said pressure device comprising mutually parallel rollers in contact: an upper press roll and a lower press roll. The cigarette paper is conveyed to the point of contact of the upper press roll and the lower press roll. The present invention uses the gravure press combining a drying device and a pressure device, causing the paper to first undergo a drying process, then finish the pressure process, thereby lowering the likelihood of paper warping and folding, and problems with the coating thickness of the fire-retardant bands.
