A heat sink (10) is used for cooling an object. The heat sink (10) comprises a base plate (1) on which a heat-producing component is thermally connected and essentially placed in perpendicular fashion; and a plurality of pin fins (2) for transferring heat to air for cooling, the pin fins being arranged on a plate surface of the base plate (1). The plurality of fins (2) is erectly disposed on the base plate (1) so that pairs of pin fin rows in which the pin fins (2) are linearly arranged at predetermined intervals constitute substantially a V-shape that opens upward.
