The surgical instrument (10) is rotatably driven around a rotational axis and has cutting elements (36,46,52) for removing the bone material. Each cutting element has a cutting edge (38,48,54). The cutting elements define a processing sphere with a pole and an equator in rotation of the instrument around the rotational axis. The cutting edges of the cutting elements have different lengths.
