<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extensible nonwoven fabric on which pieces of information, such as a source, a medicinal component and a design, are clearly recognizable not only at the beginning of use but also during use, and to provide a method for producing the nonwoven fabric. <P>SOLUTION: The nonwoven fabric mainly includes highly crimped fibers. The nonwoven fabric partly includes a compression-bonded part where fibers are not fusion-bonded, and has a tensile strength of 25 N/5 cm width or more both in a machine direction (MD) and in a cross machine direction (CD). The nonwoven fabric can be produced by a method including: allowing a water stream having a pressure of 5 MPa or more to act onto a fiber web mainly including latently crimpable fibers to form an entangled fiber web; when applying heat to the entangled fiber web to develop crimps of the latently crimpable fibers and obtain the highly crimped fibers, shrinking the area of the entangled fiber web by 30% or more to form a shrunk fiber web; and then embossing the shrunk fiber web in such a manner that the fibers are not fusion-bonded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
