<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent server down by reducing a load on a mail server before the server becomes overloaded. <P>SOLUTION: A mail server protection system reduces a load on a mail server before the mail server becomes overloaded by operating as follows: storing performance threshold information composed of a threshold of a CPU use rate, a memory use rate threshold and a CPU idle rate threshold as a setting file in a control program 40 of a firewall 30 connected to a mail server 10, and acquiring performance information B from the mail server 10; and holding output of packet data to be outputted to the mail server 10 when it is determined that any of the acquired CPU use rate, memory use rate or CPU idle rate has exceeded the CPU use rate threshold, the memory use rate threshold or the CPU idle rate threshold set by the performance threshold information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
