This position information estimation system is provided with: an acquisition antenna for periodically acquiring information from a capsule endoscope, the acquisition antenna having a plurality of receiving antennas; a calculation unit (62) for calculating the value of the difference between a signal intensity obtained from the plurality of receiving antennas and a signal intensity obtained in a previous iteration from the plurality of receiving antennas; a determination unit (63) for comparing the value of the difference and a threshold value and determining whether or not to estimate position information; and a position information estimation unit (64) for estimating the position information of the capsule endoscope when a determination is made by the determination unit (63) to estimate the position information.
