PURPOSE: A pointing device malfunction preventing device and a method thereof are provided to prevent malfunction due to usage interference by movement of fingers for direction key operation. CONSTITUTION: A signal reading unit(208) receives a pointing device signal. The signal reading unit reads out whether the received pointing device signal satisfies a predetermined condition. In case the pointing device signal satisfies the predetermined condition, a signal processing unit(210) executes a control operation. The signal processing unit does not execute the control operation.
