A floor care apparatus comprises a body including a nozzle assembly 34 and a canister assembly (14, fig 1). A suction generator and a dirt collection vessel are carried on the body and a control handle (42, fig 1) is provided. A swivel assembly connects the control handle (42, fig 1) to the nozzle assembly 34 with said swivel assembly including a first member 60 pivotally mounted to the nozzle assembly 34 and a second member 66, which includes a receiver 80 for receiving and holding the control handle (42, fig 1), is rotatably mounted with respect to the first member 60. A swivel lock 12 is provided to lock the handle (42, fig 1) in an upright storage position, the swivel lock 12 including a slide 90 that includes a locking slot 92 and which is displaceable between a use position and a control handle centering and locking position, carried on the first member 60 and a cooperating and locking projection 112 carried on the second member 66. Both the slot 92 and the projection 112 may be V-shaped. |
