<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical device which is reduced in fluid resistance without using a liquid diffusion layer and capable of generating electrical energy efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: The electrochemical device of this invention comprises fluid channel members which have fluid channel parts for letting a fluid pass through, catalyst layers each of which has an interface and contains catalyst components, and an ion conductive layer. The respective catalyst layers are layered on main surfaces of the ion conductive layer so that they are in contact with it on the opposite surface of the interface.
