<p>The invention refers to a preform mold assembly. The assembly comprises a cavity plate, and a cavity insert received in a bore in the cavity plate, the cavity insert for forming the body portion of a preform; the cavity insert defining at least in part a cavity insert cooling chamber and an annular hairpin cooling chamber in fluid communication with the cavity insert cooling chamber; the annular hairpin cooling chamber for providing cooling to a downstream end of the cavity insert. The invention further comprises a method of circulating a cooling fluid to cool a cavity insert for forming a body portion of a preform.</p> |
