PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vascular access catheter that prevents its leading end from "adhering to the blood vessel" that has been a large obstacle to the stable acquirement of necessary blood volume in a vascular access catheter used mainly for blood purification therapy.
SOLUTION: In a double-lumen catheter to remove and return blood by the two lumens formed in the catheter by axially dividing it, a blood return lumen penetrates the catheter to its leading end and communicates with the outside through an end-hall type opening 14, while the blood removal lumen communicates with the outside through an end hall type opening 12 spaced from the blood-return opening 14 and located closer toward the base. A smaller-diameter area 11 is formed at a section ahead of the blood removal lumen and near the leading end. The smaller-diameter area 11 has a side hole 13 for the blood return lumen to communicate with the outside on a side wall where the blood removal lumen opening 12 is located.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
