A reduced pressure treatment system includes a porous pad (122) positioned at a tissue site and a canister (142) having a collection chamber (166), an inlet (152), and an outlet (156). The inlet (152) is fluidly connected to the porous pad (122). A reduced pressure source (134) is fluidly connected to the outlet (156) of the canister such that fluid from the tissue site may be drawn into the collection chamber (166). A hydrophobic filter (160) is positioned adjacent the outlet (156) to prevent liquid from exiting the collection chamber (166) through the outlet. A baffle (210) is positioned within the canister (142) to create a tortuous path between the inlet and the outlet to prevent premature blocking of the hydrophobic filter (160).
