PURPOSE: A lighting device and a control method thereof using wall switches are provided to reduce the installation costs of a lighting device by using wall switches which are installed in an existing building to obtain various lighting effects. CONSTITUTION: A signal detecting unit(120) receives input voltage through a wall switch and generates a direction signal for changing the current mode according to the on/off time of the input voltage. A selecting unit(130) creates a selection signal for selecting a mode next to the current mode among predetermined modes according to the direction signal. A control unit(140) drives a load in the mode determined by the selecting unit.
