<p>Method for controlling or regulating an aerobic composting process, by control of aeration rate; process temperature and/or amount of water required for secondary wetting of the material, is based on measurements of at least one of temperature; moisture content and/or amount of process air. The process temperature is measured in the primary process air and the net amount of process heat is calculated from (a) the amount of air passing through and the difference in enthalpy between input air and waste air, or (b) from the amount of air supplied and measured concentrations of carbon dioxide in the waste air. The measured temperature generates a signal for control of aeration intensity, while the amount of heat released produces a signal for controlling secondary wetting.</p> |
