PURPOSE: A film type patterned retarder manufacturing device for a stereoscopic image display device is provided to simplify structure and to save construction costs. CONSTITUTION: A film type patterned retarder manufacturing device comprises a light source(LS), a polarizer(POL), a pattern mask(PM), and a film transporting roller(ROL). The light source radiates ultraviolet rays within an exposure area. The polarizer comprises a left side polarizer and a right side polarizer. The left side polarizer and the right side polarizer are arranged side by side on the same area within the exposure area. A left pattern mask is perpendicularly overlapped with the left side polarizer. A right pattern mask is perpendicularly overlapped with the right side polarizer. The film transporting roller revolves with a constant speed. The film transporting roller transfers a film at the constant speed.
