A web winder (1) comprises a frame (2, 3); at least one turret (4, 5) rotatably mounted in said frame; said turret (4, 5) incorporating a housing (6) from which first (7) and second (8) winding spindles extend; said turret being rotatable between a first position where said first spindle (7) is in a winding position and said second spindle (8) is in an unloading position; and a second position where said first spindle (7) is in an unloading position and said second spindle (8) is in a winding position; characterised in that said web winder further comprises:
€¢ a supporting arm (9) which extends between said winding spindles (7, 8) and which is sufficiently spaced from said housing (6) to allow webs to be wound onto said spindle; said supporting arm (9) incorporating a first clamp (12) for attaching to the first spindle (7) and a second clamp (11) for attaching to the second spindle (8); and
€¢ means for releasing and closing said clamps (11, 12) dependent upon the rotation of said turret. |
