780,154. Change-speed gearing. ETABLISSEMENTS TERROT. Dec. 5, 1955 [Jan. 7, 1955], No. 34699/55. Class 80 (2). In preselective control mechanism for changespeed gearing with gears 1, 2 moved axially by forks 3, 4 slidable on a spindle 5, pins 6, 7 project downwards from the forks through shaped apertures 8a, 8b, 9a, 9b ... in superposed transversely-slidable plates 8 ... 12, there being one plate for each speed and one for neutral. Fig. 3 shows the plate 8 for neutral and Fig. 4 the plate 9 for first speed. A spindle 14 is movable vertically through a rack 20 and pinion 21 by a preselector lever 23 so as to position an enlargement 15 in a circular aperture 8c, 9c ... in the selected plate, the spindle 14 being carried in a yoke 16 on a spindle 17 slidable through linkage 18 by the clutch or other pedal. The lever 23 is normally held in its selected position and the plates in their right-hand position by spring-loaded detents 25, 29. On depressing the pedal, the yoke 16 and spindle 14, together with the selected plate, are moved to the left, the inclined edges of the apertures in that plate co-operating with the pins 6, 7 to produce the desired movement of the gears, while the spindle 14 passes freely through slots 8d, 9d ... in the other plates. On release of the pedal, the yoke, spindle 14 and selected plate return to their right-hand position under the action of the spring 28, leaving the gears in their new position.
|
