PURPOSE: A secondary battery is provided to protect a safety vent before operating the safety vent, and to easily discharge inner gas, thereby capable of improving a safety of a secondary battery. CONSTITUTION: A secondary battery(100) comprises an electrode assembly, a case(120) accepting the electrode assembly through a top opening part, a cap assembly comprising a cap plate(131) coupling to the top opening, and a safety vent(135) having a thickness thinner than another parts of the cap plate, and a vent cover element attached to an outside of the cap plate in order to cover the safety vent, and having at least a part corresponding with another parts, which is thinner than another part. |
