Class 86 Apparatus for mixing, say, meal and molasses comprises a receptacle 1 within which is mounted an axial vertical shaft 2 having stirring arms 3 at its lower end, said arms 3 alternating with arms 4 projecting inwardly from the receptacle wall and all the arms being of trapezoidal cross-section to form opposed scraping edges. The receptacle is supplied with meal intermittently to the level h, together with molasses from a tank 16 having a discharge conduit 18 with valve 17. Further mixing is effected by two or more screw conveyers 8 each of whichis housed in a tube 5 connected at its lower and upper ends 6, 7 to said receptacle and serves to circulate the mixture from the bottom of the receptacle to the top thereof, above the level h, in such a manner that the stream of mixture projected by a radial blade 14 mounted on one conveyer shaft meets a similar stream projected from the other tube, or tubes, 5. The stirrer and conveyer shafts 2, 8, 8 are driven by a common shaft 11, and the mixture is removed from the receptacle through an outlet 15 normally closed by a slide. |
