The socket has a connector (2) for connecting a plug to an urban charging terminal of an electric vehicle. A locking unit (3) is provided for automatic engagement of the charging terminal in the connector. An electrical actuator (8) is utilized to actuate the locking unit under the action of electric current for charging the electric vehicle. The locking unit comprises a slide (7) that is movable by the actuator in a direction. The slide is slidably mounted between release position and stable position.
