An apparatus for controlling an air conditioning system is provided to maintain a discharge temperature properly by varying the discharge area of the air discharged through a plurality of discharge openings. An air conditioning system varies the cooling capacity by setting the number of operated compressors according to an air conditioning load. The air conditioning system includes a plurality of discharge openings(22). A control unit changes the discharge area of the air discharged through the plurality of discharge openings in correspondence to the variation of the capacities of the compressors. The control unit increases the number of opened discharge openings as the number of operated compressors increases. The control unit performs a multi-stage operation varying the capacity of at least two fixed capacity compressors by controlling the fixed capacity compressors. The control unit performs a first stage operation, a second stage operation, and a third stage operation. |
