The wheel has lower and upper star wheel elements (37, 43) superimposed and provided with fixed branches (38, 44), respectively. The branches define housings for receiving containers (62). The star wheel elements are movably mounted in rotation with respect to each other around a tool axis (A2) in order to modify size of the housings. The star wheel elements are connected by transmission units e.g. toothed racks (42, 48) and pinions (49, 50), whose transmission ratio is equal to -1. Blocking units e.g. tapped holes, block relative movements of the star wheel elements.
