Provided are an image processor, image processing method, and program, with which still image data are encoded and stored in a main memory at high speed and in a manner concurrent with video imaging. An imaging device (1) has: a DDR main memory (16) for storing video image data; a video image codec (20) for encoding the video image data stored in the main memory (16); a still image frame acquisition unit for acquiring a still image frame at any timing from the video image data acquired by an imaging element (12); a line memory (22) for storing still image data which is a part of the still image frame; and a JPEG codec (23) for encoding the still image data in real time in a manner concurrent with the storing of the video image data in the main memory (16). The main memory (16) stores the video image data and also stores encoded data encoded in real time by the JPEG codec (23).
