<p>The present invention relates to the use of cresyl diphenyl phosphate (5-30%) and triphenyl phosphate (5-30%) as carriers for pesticides in controlled release compositions based on polyvinyl chloride for controlling fleas and ticks and repelling phlebotomist mosquitoes, which are leishmaniose vectors, and mosquitoes that are dirofilariasis vectors. The composition further comprises 1-10% deltamethrin and 5-20% propoxur as insecticides, 0.1-5% ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate as the insect repellent and 5-15% isooctyl phthalate as the plasticiser. The composition according to the present invention can be injection-moulded into collars in which PVC (40-50%) is the controlled release matrix, for use with animals, thus eliminating the problem of an incomplete release of the active ingredients and providing a uniform release rate of the active ingredients.</p> |
