<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that suppresses peeling failure of a recording medium from an image carrier, and suppresses image transfer failure. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 10 includes: an intermediate transfer body 52 that holds a developer image; a transfer unit 64 that is applied with transfer voltage to transfer the developer image held by the intermediate transfer body 52 to a recording medium; a registration roller 86 that conveys the recording medium to the transfer unit 64; a reverse conveying path 84 that reverses the recording medium toward a conveying unit after the developer image is transferred on a first surface by the transfer unit, so that the developer image is transferred to a second surface that is the reverse side of the first surface; and a voltage control unit 104 that controls voltage to be applied to the transfer unit.
