782,347. Two-part couplings. KAMM, L. J. June 26, 1953 [June 28, 1952], No. 2533/56. Divided out of 777,446. Class 38 (1). A connector 1 comprises conductors 2 printed on insulating, e.g. glass-cloth, sheets 8, extensions 3 of the conductors forming contacts for plug units, each unit comprising a hard insulating core 7 inserted between sheets 8. Additional insulating sheets 5 extend over the whole connector with the exception of the contacts. The corresponding socket unit (Fig. 4) comprises outer layers 10 of resilient insulation, e.g. rubber, and sheets 11 of glass-cloth in which contacts 12 are provided, a resilient block 17 closing the unit. Several plug units may be assembled in a stack, spaced vertically by resilient insulating material and accommodated in a housing (Fig. 5, not shown) and socket units may also be stacked in a housing provided with mounting flanges (Fig. 6, not shown). When the plug and socket stacks are interengaged the contact is improved by compressing the stalks by means of a cam element 32 pivoted on the socket stack operated by a lever 34 to force wedge 35 between two vertically slidable wedges 36, 37. In another embodiment (Fig. 10) socket contacts also are formed integral with printed conductors and copper shielding sheets 39,46,42 and insulating sheaths 40,47,45 are provided in the units. Specifications 782,348 and 782,349 are referred to.
