<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for quickly treating a liquid crystalline polyester-containing waste liquid with a convenient method. <P>SOLUTION: A waste liquid contains: a liquid crystalline polyester which includes structural units respectively represented by formulas (1), (2), and (3), wherein the structural unit represented by formula (1) is 30-80 mol%, that represented by formula (2) is 10-35 mol%, and that represented by formula (3) is 10-35 mol% with respect to the total structural units; and an amide-based solvent. The waste liquid is dropped into at least one solvent selected from a group consisting of water, acetone, methanol, toluene, and xylene while being stirred, the liquid crystalline polyester is precipitated, and the precipitated liquid crystalline polyester is subjected to solid-liquid separation.
